Join me as I interview Anna from UpCircle, who’s beautiful products I started stocking in January during my skincare focus. It is so great to learn more from Anna about the company, I hope you enjoy finding out more too. Tell me about yourself and your role at the company? “My name is Anna and I am the co-founder of UpCircle Beauty, which I launched alongside my brother William in 2016. In 2019 we launched our products into more than 2000 retail doors and expanded into America. Brand founders tend to wear a lot of hats, but I would loosely describe my role within the brand as “The Story-Teller”. I came from fairly corporate background, but was left feeling ultimately unfulfilled. I wanted to start a business with a purpose beyond profit and to create products I could be proud of. “ What did you do before you started working…

We’ve had a month full of amazing facts, beautiful products and inspirational quotes but, there is one thing that I know people often question when switching to an eco-alternative – how much is it going to cost? And it’s a big thing! I remember when I first started out that I spent a long time worrying about how much switches were going to cost me, but actually, I have always been pleasantly surprised. So here are some simple comparisons for you: Face Wipes 1 disposable wipe per day = £42/year for branded luxury, £14.50 own brand basics. Over 3 years = £43-126. 1 reusable per day = £8-14 per year. Over 3 years = £8-14 Soap Bars/Shower Gel 6 bottles per year = £12.90 for branded luxury £11 for own brand basics. Soap Bars 4 per year = £10 Cleanser Foaming cleanser bottle 3 per year = up to £50…

homemade body butter

As the focus for this month is natural skincare, I thought I should try and make my own body butter and see how I got on! This was a super easy recipe and method and I would really recommend giving it a go! You’ll see my ingredients above! The coconut oil is from Tesco and is what I use to cook with. The shea butter I was gifted a while ago, the orange essential oil I had already and I bought the cocoa butter and almond oil from Buy Wholefoods Online. We actually used the cocoa butter to make some homemade chocolate too, which was delicious! I only wanted to make a small batch at first, to make sure I liked it but here is the recipe I used: 1/8 cup cocoa butter1/8 cup shea butter1/8 cup coconut oil1/8 cup almond oil5-6 drops essential oil (I used orange). N.B. I…

Throughout 2021 I have decided to have a different focus each month highlighting and digging deeper in to some of the products I stock, why they are good for you and the planet and why I recommend them. I will tell you some facts on the topic, provide answers to questions, do price comparisons and so much more. And of course, I will be asking for your feedback, input and advice too – as I am still keen to learn more! The January focus is going to be…Natural Skin Care. I thought this was quite a fitting one to start as many people begin the New Year with a resolution, typically something to do with better looking after themselves. And what nicer way to do that than to make sure you are treating your skin with the best products available to you. No chemicals to absorb into your skin and…
